Description
The texture in this cuff was created by fire, using a technique called reticulation. The silver alloy, (sterling silver-92.5 % silver and 7.5% copper) is heated with a torch 6-10 times, which is known as depletion guilding, leaving a thin layer of pure (fine) silver on the surface. Then the sheet of silver is heated with a torch to a temperature , where the interior alloy flows, before the surface of the metal, giving the result of ridges and ripples or moonscape. Much like a sporting event, one never knows the result, so to create one of a kind textures. the oxidisation shows the relief, and the stones and gold add beautiful features to the ‘moonscape’.
